Pork Belly Joint
Delight in the rich, crispy texture and succulent flavour of our locally sourced pork belly joint, perfect for roasting and slow cooking.
How It’s Made
Our pork belly joint is sourced from local farms committed to ethical and sustainable practices. Each joint is meticulously prepared by our skilled butchers to ensure exceptional quality and flavour.
Where It’s Butchered From
The pork belly joint is taken from the underside of the pig, known for its layers of meat and fat that create a deliciously moist and tender roast. This cut is prized for its crispy crackling and melt-in-your-mouth texture.
Cooking Instructions
Cooking our pork belly joint guarantees delicious results:
- Roasting: Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan). Score the skin of the pork belly and rub generously with salt and oil. Place in a roasting pan and roast for 2-3 hours, or until the skin is crispy and the meat is tender. Rest for 10-15 minutes before carving.
- Slow Cooking: Score the skin and season the pork belly. Place in a slow cooker with onions, garlic, and your favourite herbs. Add a little broth or cider, cover, and cook on low for 6-8 hours until the meat is tender and falling apart.
Storage Instructions
To maintain the freshness and quality of your pork belly joint:
- Refrigerate: Store in the coldest part of your refrigerator at 1-4°C and consume within 2-3 days of purchase.
- Freeze: Wrap tightly in plastic wrap or foil, or place in a freezer-safe container. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before cooking.
