Where They’re Butchered From
Chicken legs include both the thigh and drumstick portions, offering a combination of tender dark meat and rich flavour. This cut is versatile and ideal for various cooking methods.
Cooking Instructions
Cooking our chicken legs is straightforward and delicious:
- Roasting: Preheat your oven to 180°C (160°C fan). Season the chicken legs with salt, pepper, and your favourite herbs. Place them on a baking tray and roast for 45-50 minutes, or until the skin is golden brown and crispy, and the internal temperature reaches 74°C.
- Grilling: Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. Season the chicken legs with salt, pepper, and spices. Grill for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally, until the skin is charred and crispy, and the internal temperature reaches 74°C.
- Braising: Season the chicken legs and brown them in a heavy-bottomed pot with a little oil over medium-high heat. Add onions, garlic, carrots, and broth or wine to cover halfway up the legs. Cover and simmer on low heat for 1-1.5 hours, until the meat is tender and falling off the bone.
Storage Instructions
To maintain the freshness and quality of your chicken legs:
- Refrigerate: Store in the coldest part of your refrigerator at 1-4°C and consume within 1-2 days of purchase.
- Freeze: Wrap tightly in plastic wrap or foil, or place in a freezer-safe container. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before cooking.
