Shoulder of Pork
Indulge in the rich, succulent flavour of our locally sourced shoulder of pork, perfect for creating hearty and satisfying meals.
How It’s Made
Our shoulder of pork is sourced from local farms committed to ethical and sustainable practices. Each shoulder is expertly prepared by our skilled butchers to ensure quality and freshness.
Where It’s Butchered From
The shoulder of pork is taken from the upper part of the front leg of the pig. This cut is well-marbled with fat and connective tissue, making it ideal for slow cooking methods that result in tender, juicy meat.
Cooking Instructions
Cooking our shoulder of pork is both simple and rewarding:
- Roasting: Preheat your oven to 160°C (140°C fan). Season the pork with salt, pepper, garlic, and herbs. Place in a roasting pan and roast for approximately 3-4 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 70°C for well-done. Rest the meat for 15-20 minutes before carving.
- Slow Cooking: Brown the shoulder in a hot pan with a little oil. Transfer to a slow cooker with onions, carrots, celery, garlic, and your favourite herbs. Add broth or cider, cover, and cook on low for 6-8 hours until the meat is fork-tender.
Storage Instructions
To maintain the freshness and quality of your shoulder of pork:
- Refrigerate: Store in the coldest part of your refrigerator at 1-4°C and consume within 2-3 days of purchase.
- Freeze: Wrap tightly in plastic wrap or foil, or place in a freezer-safe container. Freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the refrigerator before cooking.
Enjoy the delicious taste and versatility of our locally sourced shoulder of pork, perfect for creating memorable meals that will satisfy your family and guests.
